AbstractThis paper reports the preliminary results of the image spatial resolution effect and radiometric response for several MODIS (NASA EOS-AM1 Terra satellite) images in different angle of views. MODIS(Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer) design concept was first set for regional and global applications but its data have also been used in sub-regional scales applications such as agriculture, hydrology and forest. A ±55-degree scanning pattern at the EOS orbit of 705 km achieves a 2,330-km swath and provides global coverage every one to two days. The first step for spatial and radiometric analysis was to acquire MOD09 GQK product ( Band 1 Red and Band 2 NIR) with 250m of the spatial resolution. The first requirement was to choose a site study free of cloud cover. Agriculture irrigation areas in the south of Egypt (Sahara Desert) was considered the best site. Nadir targeted image was used as reference, then it was possible to quantify the images spatial and radiometric responses by different angle of views. The results show differences in radiometric response.
